BIP Plastics

BIP Plastics begain life in 1896 as the British Cyanides Company, making cyanide chemicals for the South African gold industry. When this trade declined, the same raw materials were used firstly in the production of urea resins and then in 1925 to produce Beetle moulding powder - the first white moulding powder in the world.

Today, BIP is one of the leading manufacturers of amino plastic moulding powders in the world. It has production plants at Oldbury in England, the USA and Mexico.

BIP Amino Moulding Powders are based on colourless thermosetting resins which are condensation products of either urea or melamine with formaldehyde. These resins are combined with cellulose fillers, pigments, catalyst and other additives to give the range of powders that are available from BIP. Thermoset materials provide a unique combination of moulded propertiess which make them ideal for a wide range of applications particularly in the domestic field. Of special importance is their ability to not soften or melt on heating as thermoplastics do.
